Mark McKayMatt McKay grew up in Lac La Biche Alberta and showed an interest in guitar at a young age. He started taking classical guitar lessons and continued until his family moved to Drayton Valley Alberta when Matt was 13 years old. He then studied with renowned classical guitarist Ben Tobbiasson until he was 17. During this time, Matt also showed an interest in drumming and was active in his high school band as a percussionist. Growing up in a musical family and having a vocal teacher for a mother ensured that Matt developed a great love for music and singing while providing a solid education for the fundamentals of both. When Matt was 18, he decided to make music his full time career and has never looked back. He spent the first few years of his career honing his craft and has firmly established himself as a free-lance guitarist and singer in Edmonton where he now resides. Matt has played with many Canadian artists including : Marlee Scott, Lisa Hewitt, Jason Greely from Canadian Idol, Tracy Millar, Jessie Farrell, Duane Steele, Deric Ruttan, Shane Yellowbird, Charlie Major, Jason Blaine, and Melanie Morgan. After a successful run with Canadian recording artist Craig Moritz which included being a co-writer on several tracks from Moritz’s debut album, Matt joined Gord’s band in November of 2007.
